Dr Ravindra Shivde (Ravi) is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist from Nasik. Born on 26^th January 1954, in the family of a school principal, Ravi had his schooling in Boys’ Town,  Nasik and stood in the merit list at SSC examination. He obtained the degree of MD (Ob/Gy) DGO from Seth G S Medical College Mumbai and is running his maternity and surgical nursing home in Nasik for last 27 years. He is a leader in his own profession and a Past President of Nasik Gynecological Society; and was honored with Dr Gupte Memorial Award for exemplary medical services to people of Nasik in 2007.  

Ravi responded to the call of Rotary in 1992 by joining R.C. of Nasik. He was elected President in 2001-2002. As president he founded RICH (Rotary’s Institute for Communal Harmony) at the hands of eminent writer Y. M. Pathan, organized the first Interact conference of our District, and opened 5 Puri Bhaji Centers for nutrition to the poor. In this year, the club won District trophies for outstanding activities in Youth Service as well as Interact.  

He has shouldered numerous responsibilities at District level since 1994, culminating in his appointment as District Secretary in 2006-07 and Assistant Governor in 2008-09. He was member of DGNC in 2008-09 and IYE Selection Committee in 2004 and 2006. He led Rotary Friendship Team of 14 members to Pakistan in 2005 and was GSE Team Leader to RID 6740, Kentucky USA in 2007-08. He is avidly sought after as a speaker in Rotary as well as outside. He  has addressed 32 seminars, training sessions and events at District and numerous weekly meetings of Rotary Clubs.

Ravi has a wide range of interests ranging from History, Philosophy, Literature, Music, Drama and computers. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Sanskrit and Urdu. He has a passion for mountaineering and has trekked extensively in Sahyadri and Himalayas.  

He is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and has served as primary coordinator for several matching grant projects.  

On family front he is supported by Rotary Ann Dr Poonam, MD (Anesthesia). His only daughter, Sonia, has completed her M.B.B.S and is studying for post graduation. 

Ravi believes in carrying out his duty with extreme sincerity and dedication in personal, professional and Rotary life. His idea of leadership is to win people’s heart through love, generosity and helpfulness and to motivate them for selflessly serving others.
